I’ve been thinking of creating a Non-Profit orginazation which will help rebuild poverty stricken communities, or homes that were crumbled by natural disasters. This would take full time work and a crew of helpers. But, how do I create cash flow to pay workers and myself? Or, am I totally on the wrong page? I just don’t understand Non-Profit that much, but I do know that I feel good making a difference this way.
I have a degree in Health Science. I have a full time job with a good living. Nonprofits are businesses. But whereas for-profit businesses distribute profits to the owner snonprofits put profits if any back into the organization.
You need to have either a degree in business management, a great deal of experience running a business, or expertise regarding addressing the needs of poverty stricken communities do you have a degree in, say, agriculture? Since you don’t have any experience regarding nonprofits, a better idea would be for you to volunteer with organizations already doing the kind of work you want to do some day, so you can learn how such is. It is not too difficult. You can get books from the library like, Foundations of «your state» it will list all the foundations and then look them up on the Internet and see if you meet their qualifications, then apply!
